Hendo’s Local Pizza and Pints, named after the nickname of proprietors, South African born brothers, Mark and Glen Henderson along with wife Jaynee, will be opening at MarketWalk this Spring.
This small, family-owned establishment will feature casual, counter-style service with cozy indoor seating and a spacious outdoor seating area at the loggia. The menu will include pizza, pasta and sandwiches all crafted from traditional, authentic recipes shared by a lifelong Henderson family friend and chef from Italy. The extensive wine list will include red and white wines from around the world as well as a few locally produced wines. The beer selection will feature local & international beers as well as a wide selection of some of the best selling micro brews on tap.
Wine and beer tasting events will be held on a regular basis. We will post announcements here when they are scheduled.
The inspiration for Hendo’s is based on the Henderson’s upbringing in England where the local neighborhood pub served as the community gathering place to catch up with neighbors, enjoy a meal and a drink, and where home was just a short walk away. The Henderson’s feel that San Elijo Hills is the ideal community to recreate the same type of neighborly atmosphere. They love the sense of community that already exists here and the small town feeling that you get when you are inside the community. They want to provide a place to enjoy, relax and celebrate with friends, family and neighbors.
Hendo’s will be open daily for lunch and dinner.
The grand opening is planned for mid March 2010.
We will keep you posted as the date gets closer.
We can hardly wait!
Cheers!

Thank you for visiting the MarketWalk blog!
In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be blogging about all things MarketWalk. We’ll be keeping you posted on recent home sales, phase releases, new retail tenants, community events and more.
Since this is the first blog post, we figured it would be appropriate to answer the question, What’s MarketWalk all about?
Let’s start with the outside. MarketWalk is a community within a community. It’s a limited opportunity of only 12 townhomes, perfectly located above retail shops right in the heart of San Elijo Hills. It has many of the benefits of a more ‘urban’ lifestyle, in that you can walk to all of the modern conveniences like coffee, dining, dry cleaning, shopping and groceries. Plus there is the added benefit of being surrounded by the beautifully established community of San Elijo Hills, with parks, tons of hiking trails, two new schools and over 1,115 acres of open space.
The inside has some pretty great features too. For example, all of the kitchens come standard with granite countertops, upgraded cabinetry with decorative moulding and hardware, and really cool self-closing drawers and pull out shelving. There’s also upgraded flooring throughout, gas fireplaces and upgraded door and window trim. The floorplans are flexible and have a warm, contemporary esthetic.
Currently, only 7 homes remain.
If you haven’t been to MarketWalk recently, it’s a beautiful time of year to spend an idyllic day at San Elijo Hills. With clear sunny skies, and a bit of crisp fall air, it’s the perfect weather to explore some of the 18 miles of walking & hiking trails that wind through the community. Or bring a four-legged loved one and have a play date at the bark park followed by treats from Dexter’s Deli, lunch at The PepperTree Café and some light shopping. Whatever your fancy, please stop by the MarketWalk models and say hello.
